Members of KEO’s Sustainability & Environmental Services Division celebrate their big win at the Qatar Sustainability Awards 2020 on 4th March. KEO won the award for Green Buildings – Government Building, for the Fire Station – Artist in Residence project, as part of a joint submission with Qatar Museums.
The Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation, has awarded 29 organisations in the country that have promoted sustainability in their projects and programmes.
The winners were announced at a special event held recently in the presence of a large number of dignitaries and special invitees. The awards recognise the efforts, commitment, and contributions of individuals, institutions and organisations in furthering sustainable development and environmental protection in Qatar and the region.
Speaking at the event, Meshal al-Shamari, director, QGBC, said: “Qatar Sustainability Awards is the culmination of the year-round efforts of a growing base of stakeholders and participants from both the public and private sectors, and reflects the diversity of initiatives and achievements of an environmentally conscious community. The awards are about recognising their efforts in achieving sustainable development in Qatar.”
The awards, now in their fourth edition honoured winners in 29 categories for their sustainable and innovative efforts and practices. They highlight innovation and best practices in green buildings, green hospitality, green events, green corporate, green service providers, sustainability initiatives, and building products and technologies. The Qatar Sustainability Awards 2020 entries were reviewed and scored by an expert jury, including senior sustainability and green building experts, professional practitioners, and academic researchers.
